3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ~ MATTHEW 4:3-4

Looking only at the first temptation, although all three apply, there are two things that come to the forefront. First, Satan challenged Jesus on Who He was; “If Thou be the Son of God…”, but secondly, He challenged Him to use His gift for Himself. This is just as big a challenge as the first. Causing Him to focus on Himself rather than others would prove that He was not Who He claimed to be. Using His authority and power contrary to the nature of God would break the Word of God. In the same way, the Bride is challenged at the end time, living in an age of egotism and self-worth, yet will live for others in spite of the pressure to live otherwise.
